The Nelson Soccer Association is known for being a powerhouse in the Kootenay Region.

That notoriety just increased to the provincial stage.

Nelson Select Teams won not one, but three medals — two of the golden variety — at the BC Soccer Provincial B Cup this past weekend in Kamloops.

The U15 and U17 girls played solid soccer en route to winning the gold medals in their respective divisions.

The Nelson Selects came so close to making it three gold medals, dropping a 2-0 decision in the final of the U15 Boys Championships to finish with a silver medal.

The Nelson Selects edged host Kamloops Blaze 3-2 in the final to capture the U15 Girls Championships.

“(This) was a massive accomplishment,” said a U15 Team spokesperson.

“We are very proud of these players.”

Nelson, finishing with a 2-1 record, edged out Kelowna United on goal differential to claim Pool B.
