Mallard's Team of the Week — Nelson Special Olympics

Nelson athletes shined at a Special Olympics Swim Meet held recently at the Castlegar Aquatic Centre.
Nelson Special Olympians Thor Wilkinson, Payton Birk, Christopher Poer and Kingsley Deighton, who have worked very hard on perfecting strokes, competed in most of the races during the meet.
Birk raced solo in all of her heats and was presented with the Guts & Glory Award. Birk was scheduled to compete in the 25 meter freestyle event, but turned at the end and swam back in backstroke to complete a 50 meter race.
Mallard’s Source for sports would like to salute the Special Olympians as Team of the Week.
The Nelson contingent includes, Izzy Wilkinson volunteer, SO athlete Thor Wilkinson, SO athlete Kingsley Deighton, SO athlete Christopher Poer, SO athlete Payton Birk and coaches Makayli Wilkinson and Rose Wilkinson.
