Fernie outlasts LVR Juniors to capture Bomber Invitational
The Fernie Falcons combined a pressure defence and solid shooting to outlast the L.V. Rogers Junior Bombers 65-47 at the fourth annual Bomber Invitational Saturday afternoon at the Hangar.
The Falcons, breaking open a close contest with a 30-plus point second half to down the host club, won the nine-team tournament on points aggregate — 120-108.
The Fernie victory avenged an earlier loss to the Bombers Friday night.
LVR outscored the Falcons in the fourth quarter to edge the East Kootenay squad 61-55.
The Bombers entered the final with a 3-0 record after posting wins over Stanley Humphries of Castlegar 81-30, Fernie and Cranbrook’s Mount Baker 62-52.
Trafalgar Thunder, which hosted games at the Middle School Gymnasium, posted wins over Kootenay River of Creston and Stanley Humphries before losing to J. Lloyd Crowe of Trail.
