Nelson Dance Team completes Golden season

The Nelson Performance Dance Team recently completed its competitive season, scoring medals at most competitions.

This dedicated group of 14 dancers traveled to multiple dance festivals throughout the West Kootenays and the Okanagan. Adjudicatorsjudge the teams on performance, technique, and choreography in different disciplines of dance (i.e. contemporary, hip hop, jazz, etc.)  

The Performance Dance Team competed at the Castlegar Dance Competition (Castlegar), Festival of the Arts (Trail), Motivate Dance Competition (Trail), Kimberly Dance Works (Kimberely) and the Great Canadian Dance Challenge (Kelowna). 

Under the direction of Karin Palinka and a talented team of dance teachers, The Nelson Performance Dance Team team scored many medals.

Highlights were first and gold for their musical theatre piece and first and gold for their contemporary piece.

The team trains in studio five times a week up to two hours a day. 

The Nelson School of Dance looks forward to performing their Sparkle & Shine Year End Showcase, Tuesday June 13 at the Capitol Theatre. 

Doors open at 6:16 p.m. and tickets are $20.
