Mallard's Team of the Week — Nelson Flag Football

For most of spring, 20 players from Nelson between Grade 5 to 8 participated in the New Kootenay Football League created by the Rocky Mountain Rams from Cranbrook in association with NFL Canada.
Four teams from the West Kootenay — Nelson, Castlegar, Trail and Creston — East Kootenay — Kimberley, Fernie, Invermere and Cranbrook — played a four-week season with the final held in Cranbrook.
The teams from Nelson experienced a very competitive season, finishing in third and fifth.
Mallard’s Source for sports would like to salute the Nelson Flag Football program as Team of the Week.
Nelson team includes, Calvin Matter, Tye Zukowski, Kai Quayle, Cole Hartridge, Collin Ziegeman, Emmanuel Neen-Wandala, Sammy Pentecost, Romi Kaup, Marcel Vongkeo, Ethan Grabarczyk, Derrik Watt, Jett Westerlund, Andy Perreault, Jesse Hammond, Sabian Smith, Ronan Outram, Jack Sawatzky, Matthias Pajerski, Tristan Cutts, Shalem Ashley, Kiyan Saunders and Jason Ashley.
Coaches include Randy Neen, Gino Perreault and Ryan Reid.
