Severe Thunderstorm warning Tuesday for Boundary, West Kootenay, Kootenay Lake, Arrow Lakes/Slocan Lake
Environment Canada issued a Severe Thunderstorm warning Tuesday for southern interior of BC, including Boundary, East and West Kootenay, Kootenay Lake and Arrow Lakes/Slocan Lake regions.
Environment Canada said showers will end this morning followed by a 60 percent chance of showers or thunderstorms.
Environment Canada said there is a risk of a thunderstorm early Tuesday morning and into the afternoon.
“Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain,” Environment Canada website said.
Environment Canada said severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
“Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year,” Environment Canada said. “Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors.”
The seven-day forecast by Environment Canada calls for the weather to improve with highs reaching high 20’s later in the week and into the weekend.
