Mallard's Team of the Week — LVR Bombers 1997 Girls Soccer Champs

During the late 90s, girls’ soccer in Nelson captured the spotlight with the L.V. Rogers Bombers dominating the provincial high school girl’s roundball scene, winning a pair of BC AA Championships.
The Bombers captured back-to-back — 1997 & 1998 — BC High School AA Girls’ Soccer titles to put the Heritage City on the provincial map.
With COVID-19 pandemic cancelling most high school sports seasons, Mallard’s Source for sports decided to take a look back in the soccer archives to select the 1997 BC AA Champion L.V. Rogers Bombers as Team of the Week.
The team includes, Marlisa Manson, Ryanne Lorusso, Carolyn Johnston, Desiree Syfchuck, Jessica Wastl, Renee Prive, Anja McDonald, Karla Rizzuto, Michelle Bugarin, Jillian Stewart, Noelle Sylvester, Tobi Ridge, Leanne Audia, Robyn Skopac, Kate Elliott, Amy Stewart, Tiffany Duncan, Meghan Tozer and Head Coach Dave Simpson.
Many of the players from these teams went on to enjoy successful post-secondary careers playing at universities in Western Canada.
