The Nelson Tennis Club is hosting its season opener at its brand-new facility above L.V. Rogers High School on Saturday April 27.
“All are welcome — come check out the new tennis and pickleball courts, and grab a bite to eat,” said a NTC organizer.
The event, that runs between 2-6 p.m., is free, with food and refreshments by donation. Both the tennis courts and pickleball courts will be open for play. At 3 p.m. there will be fun activities and challenges for the juniors, and at 4 p.m. organized skills and drills with the tennis coach for the adults.
“If you cannot make the season opener and still want to test the waters for your long-lost, or yet-to-be-discovered, tennis game then the Club is hosting free “Newbie Nights” every Tuesday until the end of May between 5-7 p.m.
NTC organizer say the public can drop by anytime during Saturday to learn more about the club’s plans to build both a facility centre and children’s playground on site later this year.
Anyone who buys 2019 membership by April 27 will get their name entered to win a case of 48 tennis balls, or a carton of pickle balls.
