School Trustee Dawn Lang elected as a Regional Director for provincial BC Public School Employers’ Association Board..

Lang believes in public education and is committed to providing quality education for every student in the Kootenay Lake school district. Now serving her fourth term as a Board Trustee with SD8, Dawn’s experience is vast, having chaired various committees and working groups over the years.

And now her portfolio extends to the Provincial level, as a newly elected Regional Director for BCPSEA. The BCPSEA is a full service employers’ association and accredited bargaining agent for 60 public school boards across the province, providing unionized teaching and support staff with a full range of human resource services in BC’s K-12 public education system.

It was Lang’s interest in human resources and relationship building that prompted her to run in the recent BCPSEA election, “We know how important the role our staff plays in helping our students succeed,“ she explains. “Therefore we need to work together with our district employees to create positive and supportive working environments.”

Lang’s valuable experience of serving a rural electorate area for the last 12 years will bring that essential perspective to the BCPSEA table and in turn lend and support the goals of the BCPSEA mandate.

“The importance of public education and our unique labour issues must be kept at the forefront in our discussions with government," said Lang. “I am excited to embrace this new opportunity and engage in constructive discussions that will lead to positive outcomes for all our students, both here in the Kootenays and around the province.”

The Kootenay Lake School District acknowledges and congratulates Langon her new position.
