It’s been a long run for the volunteer board of directors from Kootenay Advocacy Network/Taking Action for Special Kids (TASK), who have spent the past three decades advocating for children with developmental and physical disabilities.

This fall, the group pulled the plug on its operation but not before donating more than $450,000 to nine charitable foundations in the Nelson area.

Starting almost 35 years ago, TASK (Taking Action for Special Kids) has supported kids with special challenges.

Recently Kootenay Kids, Nelson CARES, School District #8, Selkirk College, Bigby Place, the Nelson Food Cupboard, WE Graham Community Service Society and Friends of the Family were provided individual cheques for projects that will now carry on important work in a variety of ways.

Mallard’s Source for sports would like to pay tribute to the volunteer board of directors from Kootenay Advocacy Network/Taking Action for Special Kids (TASK) as Team of the Week for their countless hours of dedication.
