Womaginarium; A carnival of wonder & Curiosities Annual Fundraiser

The Nelson and District Women’s Centre is excited to announce this year’s WOMAGINARIUM: A carnival of wonders & curiosities fundraising event happening No•vember 17 at 7pm at the Lakeside Prestige Resort.

Tickets are available at Otter Book s and Mountain Baby, Baker Street Nelson.

“This year’s line up is really outstanding and full of strong and supportive female skill and talent”, says event co-ordinator Shannon Dikkema. “You’ll get to enjoy an evening of amazing live performance, as well as helping an organization which serves 3000 women and children annually in this community.”

Bessie Wapp will emcee the evening, which will feature performances from Circus Acts Insomniacs, Slava Doval’s Dance Fusion, Jennifyre’s Trillium Dance, the Martinis, Mystic Dreams, Bessie Wapp, Saija Nu, Emily Honneger and Kyla and Poppy Acro yoga, as well as a dance party with DJ Bernice Raabis.

“The Women’s Centre receives no ongoing funding and relies on grants, community donations and fundraising events such as Womaginarium to run our drop-in, volunteer training, food security and girls programs,” Lisa McGeady, Executive Director said.

“It is our biggest fundraiser and the community always has a great time.”

Womaginarium also features a marketplace of delights with face and body painters, fortune tellers and Tarot, as well as raw chocolate, and a photo booth so you can have fun recording your fantastic costumes.

This year’s silent auction is stacking up to be amazing! With close to $10,000 worth of art, the latest fashions, luxury items and gift certificates from restaurants to self-care and everything in-between! Enjoy, wonder and write your name next to the beautiful show•case of items you won’t want to miss knowing all proceeds go to support our Women’s Centre.

The Nelson and District Women’s Centre works to build healthy communities through providing support and resources for women and advancing gender equality.
