Bombers grab 11th spot at BC High School Cross Country Championships
Kieran Marchand scored a 37th place finish to lead the L.V. Rogers Bombers to 11th spot at the BC High School Cross Country Championships Saturday in Vancouver.
Marchand was the top finisher for the five-member Bombers Senior Boy’s squad.
Micah May, who went undefeated, winning every race including the Zone Championship on the Kootenay High School Cross Country circuit, finished 83rd overall.
May came down with a virus that hampered his race said coach Alex Ulaszonek.
“Micah was the teams top performer all year (but) came down with a virus for the race and did not have the ability to run as well as anticipated,” Ulaszonek explained.
Darian Johnson, 98th; Tibo Kolmel, 131st; and Malte Leidtke, 208th rounded out the Bomber results.
There championships attracted 26 teams from throughout the province.
The LVR Junior Girl’s finished 18th overall at the same championships.
The team consists of Julie Caspari (115th), Caroline Klopfstock (117th),
Ronya Fastner (167th) and Emilie Melzer (179th).
Ulaszonek said conditions for the race were extremely poor bad after a torrential rainstorm occurred during the weekend in Vancouver making for very difficult running conditions.
