It’s a local diet of another sort.

Tea Preville is cataloguing a huge body of work to publish a guidebook in 2012 and seeks community input to ensure all active spiritual locations are acknowledged.

Using her Nelson studio as epi-centre, Preville researched a 50-kilometre radius, photographed and painstakingly painted 36 images — all oil on linen canvas (to meet her mandate with CBT and CKCA).

Called Churches, Temples and Tipis – the 50-kilometre Spiritual Diet — the show is Preville’s latest foray and opens Nov. 18 at the Kootenay Gallery.

To-date, 64 locations have been discovered within the 50-km. radius.  Preville continues to paint the images.

Tea — an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists — started exhibiting her works of Whimsical Canadiana in 2010. Her work has shown on the Ron James Show.

Her Churches, Temples and Tipis was awarded funding by Columbia Basin Trust and Columbia Kootenay Cultural Alliance.

Preville is exhibiting at Kootenay Gallery in Castlegar from Nov. 18 to February.
