Patrick (Pat) Eric Thast was born on October 20, 1964, to Patrick Eric Thast Senior and Theresa Jean Anderson (née Stromstead).
Pat passed away suddenly on August 23, 2024. He died doing what he was known for — helping others.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Shannon; his beautiful children, Ben and Natelia; his sister, Rauni (Vito); his brother Jonathan (Jenni), his mother, Terri (Joe); and his many nephews, nieces, and great-nieces: Jason (Susan), Nicole (Adam), Michael, Jenna, Spencer, Noah, Matt, Kyle, Alicia, Aryana, Abigail, Diana, and Sadie. He will also be remembered by his many other family members, close friends, and everyone who knew him.
Pat loved his family and friends ferociously and always put others first. He spent most of his career working for SD8, making a difference in children’s lives. He worked tirelessly to give kids with support needs or challenges the experiences they deserved.
Pat was knowledgeable on most things and never hesitated to share his views. He accepted people from all walks of life and was always ready to lend a helping hand. He loved golfing, hockey, softball, and especially boating as a member of the Kootenay Launch Club.
Special thanks to Dr. Sparrow and all the compassionate people at the scene who tried tirelessly to save his life.
A service will be held at the Nelson Cemetery on August 31st at 3:00 p.m., followed by a reception at Saint Joseph Hall at 4:00 pm.
