Schwab — Helmi

Helmi Schwab, born September 20, 1922, passed away peacefully at Mountain Lakes, on Feb. 3, 2011, after a brief illness.
On Sept. 20, 1922, Helmi was born in Brightview, Alberta and grew up in the Wetaskiwin area.
She married Archie Schwab in 1955 and they had a son, Carl, in 1957. In 1972, Helmi, her mother Aune
Johnson, and Carl moved to Nelson, BC, where Helmi’s brother, Eddy lived. She was caretaker of the
Victor Apartments until she retired in 1985. Helmi enjoyed her jaunts uptown and meeting her friends.
She was very much a people person. It was very nice to know that this socializing continued after she
moved to Mountain Lakes in 2006.
She was predeceased by her father, Abel Johnson, in 1960; her best friend, and mother, Aune
Johnson, in 1988; and her brother, Eddy, in 2003. Helmi is survived by her loving son, Carl and his wife
Shelley, (Amber, Christopher, and Nicholas), her sister-in-law, Ethel Johnson, nephews, Ron (Janice)
Johnson, Gary (Patti) Johnson, niece, LaVern Shoaf(Morris) and numerous extended family members.
A memorial service will be held at the Nelson Evangelical Covenant Church, at 702 Stanley St on
Feb 19th 2011 at 2pm.
Cremation has taken place handled by Thompson Funeral Home .
