Scheer, Johann Karl

Johann Karl Scheer, known as John, passed away in Nelson, BC on April 21,2023. John was born in Stuttgart, Germany in 1929.
John met and married Ingrid in Germany before coming to Canada in 1958.
They started their Canadian life in Calgary, AB, and eventually retired in Nelson which had been their first stop when arriving in Canada. Nelson made an impression and brought them back all those years later. During retirement, they enjoyed wintering in Arizona, golfing, entertaining friends, fishing, and boating.
When John lost his beloved wife in 2003, John started travelling by water doing ocean cruises. Ingrid was afraid of deep water.
More than a decade ago, John met Phil and asked him to become his eyes as he had lost his sight. Phil and John were fast friends spending much time sharing stories over restaurant meals and shopping excursions. When asked by neighbours what John and Phil were going to do that day, John would reply, in a whisper, ‘We’re going shoplifting.’ The pair would laugh every time.
John is predeceased by his parents, all four of his siblings, and his wife Ingrid.
John is survived by his friend Phil who will remember this gracious gentleman and continue to share his stories.
