Rowan (Koenig), Kim Roslin

(June 26th, 2024)

November 8, 1955-June 26, 2024

Kim passed away, with Bob at her side, at Mountain Lakes in Nelson on June 26, 2024.

Kim was born November 8, 1955, at Kootenay Lake Hospital, in Nelson BC. Kim was the oldest of two daughters and two sons born to Carol and Alex Koenig.

Kim grew up in Nelson, and except for a year in Saskatchewan, lived her life here. She attended Hume School as well as graduating from LVR. Rowan was a name she choose for herself and legally changed.

Kim had a couple of short marriages prior to meeting Bob.  Lyle Clarke in 1979 in Rouleau SK and Joseph Lindsay in 1995 in Nelson. But little did she know that when she met Bob Corey at work in 1997, that she would eventually become, not only his best friend, but his true life partner. They married December 21, 2000, in Nelson.

Kim started with the Ministry of Transportation at Nelson, in 1974, initially as an auxiliary flag person than to the radio room and finished her career as a clerk steno with various Branches (Design, Engineering, Planning, Development Approvals and the District). Except for a one year break she remained employed with the Ministry until she retired in September 2011. Kim was frequently encouraged to apply for more senior positions, and often undertook on additional duties, and was even nominated for two Deputy Minister’s awards, but she always said that she was happy where she was and desired no additional responsibility.

As a child Kim spent most of her summers at her parent’s camp at Three Mile on the North Shore. She spent the summers, water skiing and swimming, a lifelong love, as well as practicing many different crafts. The practise of some of those crafts continued throughout her life. If you knew Kim and you were pregnant, you were assured a beautifully crotched baby blanket.  She found great peace and at times solace in what everyone else termed art, but she called her doodles.  Photography was another passion, she especially enjoyed snapping pictures of friends and family. That was an art she also practised on the many beaches (Atlantic and Pacific) that she loved walking with Bob.

Kim was also one of those who seemed to have a natural ability to take on and enjoy many sports badminton being a favorite in her younger days. Golf became a passion after she was introduced to it by Bob. Kim certainly took quiet delight in beating him at the game. But it was running that brought Kim the greatest pleasure and satisfaction, even as her Alzheimer’s robbed her of many of her talents and abilities, she ran an 8-kilometre loop four or five days a week, up until a few months before she entered Mountain Lakes. She would fall and get back up and continue running, or if she got confused, she would stay calm and wait for Bob to find her, but she kept on running.

Kim is survived by her husband Bob Corey of Nelson, Her son Jacob Clarke (Melanie) of Nelson, five grandchildren and one great grandchild, as well as many nieces, nephews and great nephews and nieces.

She was predeceased by her mother Carol Koenig   and father Alex Koenig. She is survived by her sister Tamara Koenig-Fraser (Ian), and brothers Kelly, and Torry Koenig (Luisa).

Kim has been cremated. There will be a Celebration of Life celebrated at a later time.
