(July 6th, 2021)

January 16, 1929 – June 27 2021

Alice Pedersen (nee Peet), 92, died peacefully on Sunday morning at Mountain Lake Seniors Community where she received excellent care from all the staff. The family would like to thank all those who have supported their loving mother over these last few years including the staff at Mountain Lake, Lakeview Village and the Nelson Ambulance Paramedics.

Alice first met Ove Pedersen when working as a Registered Nurse in Nelson. Her loving husband of 63 years died in 2017. Alice was the last survivor of 15 (Peet) children born on a farm in Alberta. At the age of 14 she moved with her family to a farm near Cloverdale BC. In 1951 she graduated from the Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster and worked for many years as an RN in B.C. and the Yukon.

Alice will be remembered by her many friends, colleagues and her family for her generosity and kindness, particularly when people were ill. She loved team sports and the outdoors including golfing, bowling, curling and skiing. She enjoyed pot luck dinners and playing cards with her family and friends. After retiring from nursing she was a volunteer for the Canadian Cancer Society.

Alice (and Ove) are survived by their four children: Karen (Jack), Ken (Heather), Don (Debie) and Lori, her ten grandchildren: Kristin, Jake, Stuart, Breanne, Ashley, Kyle, Melinda, Nichole, Amanda and Melissa, and ten great-grandchildren.

A small celebration of a life well lived will be held with her immediate family later in the summer. Donations, if desired to the Kootenay Lake Hospital Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society. She will be missed by all who knew her. Be in peace, mom and thanks for all you have given us.
