McKay, Valerie Diane (Davidson)

Valerie passed away peacefully on July 4, 2023, at the Kootenay Lake Hospital in Nelson, BC. She was born on September 3, 1949, to Ted and Thelma Davidson (Petersen) in Fernie, BC.
Valerie is survived by her son, Clayton McKay (Charlene) and grandchildren, Cassie and Carissa. She will be greatly missed by her sisters, Laurie and Marjorie, and her brothers Mark and Greg, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Valerie was predeceased by her sons, William and Edward McKay, her parents, and her sister, Connie.
Val’s most fulfilling part of her life was the time she spent with family. She always looked forward to her time with her son and grandchildren, especially creating memories when exploring local parks while enjoying milkshakes on summer days. She was always quick to share how grown up all the kids were, and she was proud of watching her nieces and nephews as she watched them create their own families.
She spent the last few years living at Jubilee Manor and never failed to share her quick wit and sense of humour with those around her. The family would like to thank the staff at Jubilee Manor for the care and attention Valerie received while she resided there.
A celebration of life service will be held at Kootenay Christian Fellowship, 520 Falls Street, Nelson, BC, on July 27, 2023, at 3 p.m.
