It is with great sadness that the family of Manfred Erich Schmalfuss announces his sudden passing on August 18, 2012 at Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital in Trail.
He was born November 15, 1934 in Planitz-Zwickau, Germany. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 48 years, Marianne Schmalfuss, his daughter Michele Creak (Tony), grandchildren Christopher Lenson, Jeremy Lensen, Amanda Creak, and Joshua Creak.
Manfred worked in various sawmills as a millwright and planer man in Prince George, Nelson, and Castlegar where many nicknamed him “Hammer” because anything could be fixed with a hammer. He enjoyed working in his yard and prided himself on his wine making.
A memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 24th, 2012 at the chapel of Thompson Funeral Service Ltd.
