It is with broken hearts, that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother Sandra Ludlow of Bonnington B.C., at  7:25 am Thursday June 8th 2017, at Kootenay Lake Hospital in Nelson B.C, with her daughters by her side. Sandra was born and raised in Trail, B.C. To Peggy and Sam Reid, and has one older sister Margaret, (Bob) Ross.

Mom had very fond memories of growing up in Trail, she was a adorable child with beautiful red curly ringlets. Her sister and her went to the movies a lot, where mom would enter the amateur talent show. She really could sing, and would often win. Friends from her childhood were still in touch with her, often recalling the good times they had growing up tobogganing, Rin Tin Tin, and having lots of laughs. In high school mom was a member of the choir, and the basketball team. She graduated from J. Lloyd Crowe Secondary in 1956.

Sandra married in 1957, and within a few years had two daughters, Kelli,(Ron) Graham, and Shannon, (Roger) May. Sandra raised her daughters on her own while working at B.C Tel as a telephone operator. Even though she didn’t have a lot of money, every payday she took the girls to the Medi for pizza, they loved it! Mom ended up working at B.C Tel/Telus, for over 25 years. She had some of the best times of her life being an operator, working with those girls, she loved them all, and is still friends with many of them. Same thing goes for the Trail Phone Mart, lifelong friends were made. It was a great place to work, and she retired happily in 1993.

In 1978 she met Bob Ludlow and they were married in 1984. Together they built their dream home in Bonnnington, B.C. Ten years later both her daughters and families built their homes on the same property , mom couldn’t have been happier.

Sandra had many friends, and they all know she had a great sense of humor, and she loved a good joke. We are sure anyone reading this has heard at least one joke from Sandra, whether in person, by phone, or by email.

Gambling was something else mom liked to do. She made several trips to Reno, and Vegas, with Bob, or her good friend Maureen, she even won a jackpot once! Other highlights on these trips were the concerts, seeing Celine, Elton, Cher, and many others, she loved music, and, as stated earlier, was a beautiful singer herself. Another of Sandra’s loves, were animals. Her and Bob had many different dogs and cats over the years, a couple birds, and even a rooster! She really did love animals, and had a special way with them. We witnessed birds landing on her fingers, more than once…Over our lifetime we witnessed numerous acts of kindness from Sandra, whether it be to family, friends, or complete strangers, as well as a number of charities, she never hesitated to help when someone needed it. Sandra had numerous hobbies: reading, crafts such as Christmas wreaths and baskets, and canning all the goods from Bob’s garden.

Sandra’s greatest love was for her daughters, their husbands, and her grandchildren, Jade, and Chase. She was so proud of them, and loved them dearly.

Sandra was predeceased by her parents Peggy and Sam Reid, and husband Bob Ludlow. She will be lovingly remembered by her family, Kelli (Ron) Graham, Shannon (Roger) May, grandchildren Jade and Chase, sister Margaret Ross, as well as many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, precious dog Sweetie, and many, many friends.

We love you Nana, Rest in peace.

A Celebration Of Life will take place later this summer, Online condolences can be made through Thompson Funeral Service.  In lieu of flowers, a donation to Kootenay Lake Hospital, Light Up The Hospital Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
