Johnson (née Faminoff), Marcia

The family of Marcia Johnson (née Faminoff) is saddened to announce her passing on January 29, 2023 at the age of 65 years.  She will be greatly missed by her husband Artie (Alvin) Johnson, and her son Dale (Callan).  Marcia had a very lengthy illness to which she eventually succumbed.

Marcia was predeceased by her mother (Verna Stralaeff), her father (Edward Faminoff), and her adult son Darry Callan.  She is survived by her half-sister Ronny, and nieces Hailey and Ashley of Salmo. 

Marcia and Artie were married in 2004, and together with Dale, they made their home in Kaslo for the last 21 years.

Marcia’s family remembers her as a very strong person, with a great sense of humor and wit.  She was very generous and took pride in caring for others.  As a child, Marcia was recognized to have great potential to become a gymnast.  As an adult, she loved nature walks.  Marcia enjoyed reading recipe books and home cooking. She enjoyed solving crossword puzzles and reading novels.

Marcia was a multi-talented woman.  She was a self-taught watercolor artist and quite a number of her paintings were purchased by appreciators of her work.  She also taught herself to play guitar and she enjoyed entertaining. Her creativity was reflected in her knitting, quilting, and sewing.  Her strength and versatility was reflected in her work in scribing on construction of log houses.  Marcia was an accomplished gardener.  Though small in stature, she was a hard worker and created a very productive garden each summer wherever she lived.

A memorial gathering for Marcia will be planned later in the Spring.
