Iallonardo, Luigi

Luigi Iallonardo
July 24, 1927 – February 28, 2011
In his sleep and peacefully he passed away in the early hours of February 28, 2011.
After an initial battle with lung cancer of just over a year. Luigi was very recently diagnosed with a recurrence of this disease. He succumbed to the recurrence of his illness in a matter of a few short weeks.
Although family and friends have been somewhat surprised by the suddenness of this turn of events they are greatly comforted knowing he had a healthy and happy 83 years with us.
Luigi was born in St. Stefano, Italy he grew up in a family of six brothers and sisters. He married his sweetheart and shortly thereafter they immigrated to Canada and began their life and family together.
Both he and wife Carmela worked long and hard in their newly adopted country. They always called Nelson home never forgetting their roots and homeland, always proud to honor their Italian heritage.
Together they raised three children, two daughters and one son. Sadly in 2002 he was predeceased by his oldest daughter Lucie and his first grandchild Erika. He is survived by his loving wife Carmela, daughter Roberta, and son Michael, and their families, and his younger sister Emilia and her sons.
May you rest in peace and tranquility. You are loved ever so much, passionately and deeply missed by all those you have left behind. A sincere and heartfelt thank you to all his medical caregivers especially through his final days with us.
