Grodzki, Hazel “Colleen”
(December 6th, 2023)

It is with deep sadness we announce the death of Hazel Colleen (Fletcher) Grodzki, who died at Mountain Lake Seniors Community on December 6, 2023, at the age of 97.
She was predeceased by her husband Arthur Grodzki (2001), her son Richard Grodzki (1980), her sister Carmen (Fletcher) Reed (2003) her sister-in-laws Irene Truant and Victoria Grizzelle, brother-in-law Leonard Grodzki, and grandson Michael Frei.
Her surviving family members are daughters-Judy (Grodzki) Cary and Joan Grodzki, granddaughter-Kerri Grodzki, grandsons-Jon Edmunds, Mark Edmunds, Glover Cary, Ryan Tedford, Shane Frei and seven great grandchildren.
Colleen was born in Nelson in her grandmother’s family home on Latimer Street to Jay Russel Fletcher and Hazel Edith (Murphy) Fletcher on September 30, 1926, and raised there with her sister until she was 12 years. She then went to Front Street with her father and stayed until she married Art in November of 1946. Once married, they settled in Rosemont (Nelson) where she became a homemarker and remained for over 60 years.
She was known by most for her quick wit, her sense of humour, and her straight forward honesty. You always knew where you stood with her.
With her, family meant everything. She made soups, pies, and cookies for all of us to enjoy. She was always knitting, crocheting and sewing something for us. She kept a garden most years.
She has been cremated and her ashes will be interred in the Nelson Cemetery with her husband and son at her request. A simple memorial with immediate family will take place in the spring.
We wish to thank Dr. Janz and the staff at Mountain Lake Seniors Community for the kind and caring attention given to her while she was there.
