MARIA HEDWIG GERTRUD (HETTY) GRAHAM It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Maria Hedwig Gertrud (Hetty) Graham on November 3, 2010. Mom will be greatly missed by her six children: Michael (Doris) Graham, Richard (Gemma) Graham, Christine (Andy) Tyers, Yvonne Graham, James Graham and Brian (Kelly) Graham. Her dearly loved grandchildren: Andrea, Dylon, Joshua, Nicholas, Cheyenne, Samantha, Krystal, Brittany, Kailey, Owen, Josie, Courtney & Brandon; her great-granddaughters: Alexia, Beau & Charity. She also leaves to mourn her sister, Helga (Paul) Fenner, niece Anke (Frank) Fenner and their daughter Johanna. As well as Karin Hahnekamp, Tara Graham and Lynn Sutherland. Mom was born in Cloppenburg Germany, March 24, 1937. She came to Canada in 1959 to visit her sister, Margaret. This visit turned into a lifelong adventure. She spent the early years farming in Alberta. In 1972, after a trip around BC she decided Kaslo is where she wanted to raise her family. Mom loved Kaslo and “her” mountains. Years were spent involved in school, Scouting/Guides, sports and later years the Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She treasured all her great friends, especially enjoyed her Saturday Lunch Group and their time going to yard sales. Mom’s passion was for gardening. She could often be found tending to her flowers or weeding in her rock garden. Her greatest love was for her grandchildren. She felt blessed to be able to spend time with them and their friends, all knowing her as Grandma Hetty. At Mom’s request, no service will be held. As an expression of sympathy family and friends may make donations to the Victoria Hospital of Kaslo – Ladies Auxiliary Society for the palliative care unit.
