Engleman, Darin 

Growing up in Nelson BC, and having spent most of his working life in Calgary, AB, Darin John Engleman passed away peacefully July 20th 2023 at the age of 56. Darin was a father, son, brother, uncle and a friend to many. His quick wit and readiness with a joke will always be remembered. He was no slack with a golf club, a trivia master, numbers guru and storyteller extraordinaire.  Darin loved life and fought long and hard to stay in this world right to the very end, always searching for a positive when difficult circumstances presented themselves.  He was a miracle walking after his double lung transplant even with the many setbacks he had to contend with.  He greatly appreciated the support of his family and uplifting encouragement from his friends.  Darin will be missed by many and leave his family wishing him peace after such a long and heroic battle but also wondering why he was chosen so soon.

Darin is survived by his mother Dee (Dave), father John (Penny), sister Lisa (Todd), and children Paige (Jesse), Christopher, Aiden and Daylan, nephews Nicholas (Meghan) and Benjamin, along with many extended family members and friends he loved like brothers and sisters. Darin was fortunate to have his loving family members and close friends by his side until his final hours, caring, comforting, laughing and telling stories, wishing him a peaceful transition to his next journey. We would like to thank the wonderful staff at Vancouver’s VGH and Vernon Jubilee Hospital for making Darin’s last days so comfortable.
