David Ainslie Macleod

David Ainslie Macleod, aged 59, Nelson British Columbia, Canada, died on Friday, April 22nd. David was born and raised in Princeton, NJ, son of the late Dr. Donald and Norma Macleod. He is survived by a brother John Fraser of Brentwood, CA, sisters Anne Macleod Weeks of Philadelphia, PA and Fenwick Island, DE, and Leslie E. Macleod- Lamb of Sidney Center, NY, and two nephews, Ian Lamb of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Jed Weeks of Baltimore, MD. David graduated from Princeton Day School and the University Of New Brunswick Canada. He worked in the Canadian Forestry Industry in Silviculture until health concerns caused an early retirement. David was a successful cruciverbalist, publishing four books of Canadian-themed crosswords and having his puzzles published in the New York Times and other national papers. An avid golfer, David turned to internet golf, playing international opponents, when he could no longer walk the golf course. David found comfort in the simple things in life, such as his strawberry plants, the sunset, and the beauty of snow. He had an undying love of the mountains. Memorial contributions can be made in David’s name to The Chewonki Foundation, 485 Chewonki Neck Road, Wiscasset, ME 04578, c/o Lucy Hull or to a charity of your choice. David was cremated at the Nelson Crematorium, Nelson BC. There will be no public service held. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Thompson Funeral Service Ltd.
