Cox, Lillian Margaret (Lil)

(November 19th, 2020)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lillian Margaret Cox (Lil) on October 15, 2020, 30 years to the day of the passing of her husband Vern.

Mom was born in Fernie, BC, April 12, 1922, to Frederick and Martha Hutchinson.  In 1947 Lil moved to Nelson where she married Vern Cox and raised their children.  Mom’s passions, along with her family, were gardening and bowling.  She was proud to be part of a bowling family well up in to her ’80’s.  You would often see Mom walking to and from Town, to pick up some groceries or pay her bills, that 2.5 km round trip walk was something she enjoyed.

At 85 you would still see her sleigh riding with her grandchildren in the back yard, something her children were envious of, as they felt they were too old to do that!  Mom was a staunch Vancouver Canucks fan and one of the highlights of her life was to meet and receive a hug from Trevor Linden, her hockey idol.

Mom was predeceased by her husband Vern, parents and eight siblings and two grandchildren, Tracey and Dennis. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by those who survive her, sons Brynley (Sonja), Walter (Robbie), and daughters Beverley Caldwell and Carol (Cal) Him; and 11 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

A private family memorial will be held in the Spring of 2021.
