Cole — Francis Jean

Francis Jean Cole October 9, 1933 – January 25, 2011
Mom’s journey here started in Lindsay, Ontario where she was born to Gertrude and Bill Cole. Her older brother Tom was waiting for her, and they were later joined by Bill, Sandra and Mary.
At seventeen she travelled to Logan, Utah where she married Max Jones, and together they brought four children into the world; Jennifer, Randy, Dee and Jeff. Mom’s travels took her to Alberta where she completed her education, and taught school for 25 years in Edmonton, Red Deer and Calgary. A
fter she retired she lived in Cochrane and Calgary, and in July of this year she moved to Nelson, BC – which she described as heaven. Mom always taught me to “know yourself well, reach for your star, and follow it.”
Her accomplishments in life exemplified this lesson. Mom was a courageous and brave woman who celebrated her life by living it – in times of joy and times of heartache.
She was an example of great strength, wisdom and hopefulness for hundreds of people – and was always surprised when people told her so. Mom’s greatest regret was that she didn’t play more with her children – she loved children’s laughter and curiosity.
More recently she taught about faith and fearlessly faced her death with anticipation – especially that her spirit would be free from the limitations of her ailing body. She wondered if she would get to fly throught the sky on Pegasus – I’m sure she did early on Tuesday morning.
At mom’s request there will be no funeral or memorial service. We hope that you will spend a quiet moment thinking about your memories of her.
