Edward Wallace Burgoyne

Edward Wallace Burgoyne passed away peacefully at Kootenay Lake Hospital on July 16, 2018 with his loving wife beside him, just one week short of his 80th Birthday. Ed leaves behind to mourn his wife of 52 years Verna, sons John and Grant, grandchildren Tanner, Zak, Mckenna, Justin and Kyle.

Ed was born in Nanaimo BC and grew up in the Coombs and Parkville area. In 1954 at the age of 16 he started working with CP Rail and first came to Nelson in 1959 with CP Telecommunications where he met Verna at a Leafs Hockey game; he left Nelson only to return in 1964 and marry Verna in September 1966. Ed continued to work for CP up until 1968 when he started at Kootenay Forest Products and worked there until its closing in 1982. Ed finished his working career at Maglio Building Centre in Nelson in 2003.

He is survived by his sister Edith Pratt in Parkville and Brother Harry in Port Coquitlam, Sister In-law RayeAnn Eliuk of Surrey and many nieces and nephews.

Ed was the meaning of hard work and was always willing to help out – from gardening, to house cleaning to laundry; he did it all, and he enjoyed fishing, camping and reading westerns.  A daily coffee trip was something he always looked forward to, but most of all he loved the time he spent with his wonderful grandchildren: taking them to the A&W, shopping, going fishing or to a Leafs game…He will be greatly missed by all.

The Family would like to send a special thank you to the doctors and nurses at Kootenay Lake Hospital for the loving care of Ed, especially the Emergency department and the 3rd floor.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Ed to Kootenay Lake Hospital.

Cremation has taken place and there will be no service at Ed’s request.
