Bayer, Paul

(August 22nd, 2024)

Paul Bayer was born on April 26, 1961, in London, Ontario, to Armin and Maria Bayer.  He passed away on August 22, 2024, at the age of 63, in Nelson, British Columbia.

Paul will be deeply missed by his wife of 35 years, Kathy Watkis Bayer, his brother Peter Bayer (Betty), his sister-in-law Susan Slemko (Randy), his brother-in-law Ken Watkis (Debbie), his nephews Jonathan Bayer and Christopher Tomm, and his niece Kaylee Tomm, as well as extended family in Austria and many friends.  He was predeceased by his parents.

Paul grew up in Ontario but spent most of his adult life in British Columbia.  He attended school at Strathroy District Collegiate in Strathroy, Ontario, Kingsway College in Oshawa, Ontario, and Parkview Adventist Academy in Lacombe, Alberta.  He enjoyed working with his hands and worked at a variety of jobs including an autobody repair shop and a lumber mill.

Paul especially enjoyed building a mountain cabin where he and Kathy lived off grid for many years with their dogs and a variety of wildlife.  He loved hiking with his dogs and always had wilderness stories to share.  He had a zest for life and a love of nature.  He also had a strong faith and enjoyed worshipping with members of the Nelson Seventh-day Adventist church.

At Paul’s request, no service has been planned.  Instead, a small gathering of family and friends will take place at a future date to be determined.  A slide show celebrating his life can be viewed at https://youtu.be/23UOL1ZL4W8.
