Letters to the Editor

To the Editor:

We, the undersigned write to express our shock and revulsion following your publication on June 1st of an abhorrent caricature by notorious anti-Semitic cartoonist, Carlos Latuff.

While we favour a broad marketplace of ideas, those which contribute to hatred against the Jewish people have no place in a publication like...

To the Editor:

Bicycles should not be allowed in any natural area. They are inanimate objects and have no rights.

There is also no right to mountain bike. That was settled in federal court in 1994:

To the Editor,

Why are Bill Vander Zalm and Chris Delaney afraid of local voices? The B.C. government has announced it will hold HST public dialogues featuring speakers from the No and the Yes sides in 10 different communities across the province.

It is clear that the intent was to have local participation from both sides so that attendees would have access...

Ask anyone who has lived under a dictatorship and they will tell you of its ugly features: A Supreme Leader who rules with an iron fist; legislation pushed through by a rubber stamp legislative assembly with little or closured debate; government officials ordered into silence or fearful of speaking up; and a press denied the right to even ask questions, let alone get any answers.

To the Editor,

During the week of Jan. 3, CBC Vancouver ran an exposé on organized crime laundering money in Vancouver area gambling casinos.

The allegations put forth in this exposé are very serious and probably true. They are another black stain on the record of the Gordon Campbell government.

To help...

To the Editor,

As most people will recall, the NDP sent out a cartoonish flyer last fall, which discussed the Canada-European Union: Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement, also known simply as CETA.

Since then, there has been much discussion about the issue and recently, our current MP has spent time criticizing both...

To the Editor,

Thanks for the recent article in The Nelson Daily.

I am totally opposed to a ski resort in this area. Who wants it exactly? Developers? Government? I don't get it. Is it another way to get Albertans to spend oil money in BC?

A year round ski resort makes no sense to me. People don't have enough of winter by April? I would rather...
