Bill MacMillan, BCBUA Area Representative for the Kootenays, recently presented Brady Stocks as the 2022 BC Baseball Umpires Association Kootenay Area Umpire of the Year award.

Stocks has been an active umpire in Nelson since 2016 and is often seen at the ballpark working with the younger umpires and helping with their development.

“It is the contribution of young umpires like Brady that helps us continue the development of our younger umpires and maintain the continuity from year to year,” said MacMillan.

“It has been my pleasure to watch Brady develop as an umpire and grow as a responsible young man. Congratulations Brady and keep up the good work.”

This season Stocks has taken on the added responsibilities of the Umpire in Chief for Nelson Minor Baseball.

Nelson Minor Baseball, with division including Tee Ball, Rookie, Minors, Majors, 15U and 18U, hosts games most nights at Queen Elizabeth Park in Fairview and Lion’s Park in Uphill.

The season concludes in June when Allstar Teams begin play.
