The L.V. Rogers Bombers experienced the highs and lows of provincial competition, finishing 11th overall at the BC High School AAA Girls Volleyball Championships Saturday in Lake Country.

The Bombers, ranked 16th when the tournament began, defeated South Kam of Kamloops 2-0 in the best-of-three match during Consolation Round action.

LVR opened the tournament with a 1-1 record in pool play.

The Bombers lost 25-16, 25-22 to Gladstone of Vancouver to open the tournament as nerves and unforced errors proved to be too much for the Kootenay Zone champs to overcome.

LVR bounced back to blast Langley Secondary 25-9, 25-18 to conclude pool play action.

In playoff round, the Bombers lost a heartbreaking 2-0 decision to College Heights of Prince George.

The northern school, which eventually won the bronze medal in the tournament, won the third game 15-11.

Dropped into the Consolation Round, LVR then defeated host George Elliott in straight games.

George Elliott had been ranked near the top of the provincial rankings for most of the season.

Saturday, Duchess Park of Prince George took advantage of poor serving by LVR to edge the Bombers in three games.

The final contest score was 15-11 for Duchess Park.

McMath of Richmond defeated West Vancouver to claim the BC High School AAA Girls Volleyball Championship.

The Bombers, coached by Staci Proctor, Katie Wayling, and Sarah Moncks, includes players Amelia Finley, Hannah McClure, Franzi Hagenau, Robyn Bunyan, Gia, Davidson, Abby Ens, Atlyn Proctor, Addison Mowery, Georgia Shuel, Olivia Bezaire, Paityn Lake, and Sedona Shuel.
