There’s no shortage of things to do and places to see in the Heritage City this weekend.

Topping the list of events is the biggest and best, Road Kings Queen City Cruise beginning Friday at Bogustown with registration followed by the parade through Nelson and down Baker Street.

The 10th anniversary runs Friday and Saturday and, according to president Mike Keegan, should top the 350 car mark bring in an estimated $1.3 million into the local economy.

A few hours before the Road Kings take over, the fourth annual Nelson Chrysler Soap Box Derby thunders down the streets beginning at 5 p.m. from the corner of Kootenay and Carbonate Streets.

Racers are ready to rocket down Kootenay Street with any sort of creation one can muster.

Following the Queen City Cruise Sunday is the annual West Kootenay Toy Run.

The 25th anniversary run, raising money for the food-banks, women’s shelters and families of the Kootenays along with providing toys for the kids, begins in Castlegar.

The ride begins with registration, and a pancake breakfast compliments of the local Lion’s Club in Castlegar starting at 8 a.m. Registration is an unwrapped toy or $10, but toys are preferred.

Ride begins at 10 a.m. with stops on Baker Street in Nelson at 10:45 a.m., lunch at Salmo Fire Hall, Cedar Ave in Trail at 1:45 p.m. and back at the Castlegar Community Complex at 3 p.m.

Raffles for the 2012 Harley Davidson Blackline and Harley Davidson 883 Iron are at 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., respectively.
