Community Gaming Grants benefit organizations idelivering vital programs

Local organizations will continue to deliver programs that improve people’s quality of life thanks to nearly $61 million in Community Gaming Grants for human and social services, says New Democrat MLA Brittny Anderson.
“Nelson-Creston is home to an amazing array of organizations that support our community,” said Brittny Anderson, MLA for Nelson-Creston.
“Over twenty (20) key organizations in our community received significant funding, which will help them deliver services like housing, childcare, youth and seniors programs across our region.”
Twenty-one organizations in the region are receiving $493,150 in funding for human and social services, such as meeting the needs of under-served groups, providing public outreach and education, and more, including:
- Creston Valley Society for Therapeutic Horsemanship – $ 50,000
- Kaslo Community Services Society – $ 51,500
- Salmo Valley Youth & Community Centre Society – $ 58,000
- West Kootenay Women’s Association – $ 26,075
The $61 million in funding this year for human and social services grants comes out of the $140 million distributed annually to not-for-profit organizations that deliver other essential services and make life better for people in British Columbia.
