RCMP is seeking public assistance in locating Matthew Moreau, who was reported missing on August 30, 2024.

Matthew Moreau was last believed to have been seen at approximately 11 p.m. on August 29, 2024 in the 2100 block of Highway 31 heading east towards Kootenay Lake on foot.

Matthew Moreau’s Description:

  • Caucasian male
  • 42 years
  • 6 ft 2 in (188 cm)
  • 240 lbs (109 kg)
  • Shaved brown hair
  • Hazel eyes
  • Full beard
  • Right-side eye brow piercing

A daylight search of the area where Matthew Moreau was last seen resulted in the discovery of some personal effects at the bottom of a large cliff. Police believe he may have managed to walk out but are very concerned for his wellbeing.

Matthew Moreau had been on the Kootenay Lake Ferry earlier that night and may have been speaking with a man during the crossing. Police are looking to speak with this man to help advance the investigation and find Matthew safe.
