Pedestrian expected to make full recovery after collision with vehicle — Castlegar RCMP

Castlegar RCMP said a pedestrian is expected to make a full recovery after being struck by a vehicle Sunday evening in the Sunflower City.

Castlegar RCMP said that at approximately 7:25 p.m. September 15, 2024 , officers were alerted to a collision that involved a vehicle and a pedestrian at the intersection of Columbia Avenue and 20th Street.

When police arrived, Castlegar RCMP said that a vehicle was stopped in a lane of travel while the 31-year-old female was lying on the roadway complaining of injuries.

“Police are continuing the investigation which has determined the single occupant vehicle had been travelling North on Columbia Avenue,” Castlegar RCMP said in a media release.

“At the traffic and pedestrian controlled intersection, while the vehicle was lawfully making a left hand turn on a green light, the vehicle entered the pedestrian cross walk location of the intersection, striking the pedestrian.”

RCMP saidEmergency Services provided treatment to the pedestrian and she was subsequently transported to hospital, expecting to make a full recovery.

RCMP said the police investigation is ongoing which includes any negligence of the 34 year old driver and/or 31 year old pedestrian.
