On September 6th, 2024, 19 riders and support crew departed Kelowna on their annual 1000 km ride throughout South East British Columbia, and on September 8th, Castlegar welcomed the riders who had a stop over in Castlegar before heading on to Nelson, BC.

The team again included local Castlegar RCMP officer Cst. Ron George.

This is the ninth year Cst. George has completed the ride and his commitment comes from knowing the benefit families and children are afforded after the efforts of the riders, volunteers, sponsors and donations.

Upon their arrival to Castlegar, the team was able to hear speeches from local families who shared stories about positive impact their families had received from the foundation.

Cops for Kids is made up of dedicated RCMP officers and personnel from the South East District. The charitable foundation was formed in 2001 and since inception have worked tirelessly to raise funds to support children in need in the communities that we serve.  The annual Cops for Kids Ride, gives the organization the opportunity to not only showcase the generous sponsors but raise awareness and the much-needed funds to continue the pledge to assist children in medical crisis.

Anyone wishing to learn more about the foundation or to donate can visit the foundation’s website.

After spending the night in Castlegar, the riders continued on with their 10-day journey taking them to many communities in South East British Columbia, which came to a successful end on September 15, 2024.
