Trail RCMP investigate neighbour assault

Trail RCMP are investigating a neighbour assault on August 10, 2024, in the 1200 block of Columbia Avenue.

RCMP said that at 9:11 a.m. frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officers responded to an assault in progress between two women.

RCMP said a 35-year-old Trail woman allegedly assaulted her neighbour, 25-year-old Trail woman, during a dispute. The 25-year-old Trail woman required medical treatment after the assault and attended the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital. The woman was believed to have serious injuries which included a broken nose and concussion.

Officers arrested a 35-year-old Trail woman at the scene for the assault. She was later released on conditions which included not to have contact with the victim and to attend a future court date.

The investigating officer will forward a report to Crown Counsel.

Bear attempts break-in at Trail residences

RCMP said on August 9, 2024, at 1:15 a.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officers received a report that a black bear attempted to break into two different residences on Oak and Topping Street, in Trail, BC.

Bears are looking for any food source to fatten up for the winter hibernation. Citizens are encouraged to take steps to avoid conflict with wildlife. Please lock your residences and cars, store your food garbage indoors, and clean up any fallen fruit or food sources in your yard that may attract bears, says Sgt. Wicentowich

Thief takes off hat-away

RCMP said that on August 8, 2024, at 7:43 p.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer received a report of a break, enter, and theft to a residence in the 600 block of Rossland Avenue, in Trail, BC.

A 27-year-old Trail man allegedly broke into the residence and stole several items, including three hats. The man left the residence wearing a stolen red fedora with a black band. Officers reviewed surveillance footage of the alleged crime which depicted the man breaking into the residence and walking away from the scene with his stolen chapeau and items. Officers located and arrested the 27-year-old Trail man. They seized the items stolen in a search subsequent to his arrest.

The man was taken to the Trail Detachment and detained in custody during a bail hearing by a Provincial Court Judge. He is scheduled to make his next appearance before a Provincial Court Judge on August 12, 2024.

Spencer Roy Henderson of Trail (27) is currently charged with one count of Break, Enter, and Theft contrary to Section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.
