Nelson Pride board, volunteers, and the public were on hand for the Pride progress flag raising at City Hall in Nelson on Monday.

This event is always one of the highlights of the week, it is such a visible statement of inclusion and belonging to kick off the week of events.

The board has been looking forward to this week all year. There are events for all ages including Queer Games Night, All-Ages Coffee House, and a Hall of Fame event at the Nelson Public Library. A complete list of events can be found on the Nelson Pride website.

Nelson Pride board members were thrilled to participate in Trail’s first-ever Pride parade on Saturday, August 24th.

Castlegar Pride will be participating in the Nelson Pride parade on Sunday, September 1st.

It is great to see this collaboration as well as the growth in these local Pride organizations. This was some of the reasoning behind Nelson Pride’s rebranding from Kootenay Pride because these other organizations had grown substantially.

Volunteers safety marshals are still needed for the parade so if folks are keen to help, please email stephaniemyersfundraising@gmail.com.

The board is always looking for individuals who would be interested in joining the board or taking on an event during Pride or any time during the year, if this is you please reach out to info@nelsonpride.ca.
