Nelson Pride board shares upcoming events, celebrations

This has been the first full year of incorporation for the Nelson Pride board and they feel energized by the feedback they have received from the community.
The board is excited to share some great events for the upcoming Pride celebration with the community.
Events like Flag Raising, Drag Brunch, Welcome BBQ and more.
The weekend will cap off with the parade on Sunday, Sept 1st at 3 p.m. followed by a block party at Cottonwood Falls Park.

There are the ongoing Queer Games nights at the United Church on the first Friday of the month.
The next one will be Friday, Aug 2nd from 6 – 9 p.m. Attendees are welcome to bring their own easy-to-learn tabletop favorites to share. There is also the Queer Meet Cute on Wednesday, Aug 7th starting at 6:30 p.m. at Torchlight Brewing Co.

Board member, Michael Wicks feels hopeful about the enthusiasm and engagement he is seeing around the 2SLGBTQ+ Archives housed at the Nelson Museum, Archives and Gallery.
He invites everyone to add their memories and ephemera to this project to ensure it truly represents the history and tells the complete story of the queer experience in this area.
