Nelson CARES Society is hosting a summer fundraising raffle for a Pedego Avenue electric bike with proceeds going to support the Kootenay Seniors Transportation Program.

Kootenay Seniors, a program of Nelson CARES Society, works to support seniors in remaining in their homes for as long as possible, living with dignity and joy and being an integral part of their community.

Kootenay Seniors has two essential programs: Transportation Program and Home Support.

The Kootenay Seniors Transportation Program has worked diligently to meet the ever-growing need for safe, affordable, and reliable transportation for seniors in Nelson and the surrounding communities.

The funds gained by the Pedego e-bike raffle will support the transportation program’s growth, and boost its expansion. Over the past year the volunteer drivers have provided over 750 rides, we have 75 clients that use the Volunteer Driver Program to get to their medical and non-medical appointments and the need is always growing. We service Kaslo, Castlegar, Trail, Nelson and the surrounding communities.

“As a part of this amazing vibrant community, I am very happy to be able to support Nelson CARES in their work to help vulnerable members of our city,” said Mike Clyde from Pedego Canada.

“What awesome work they do, helping us move towards more inclusive spaces and recognizing housing is essential for everyone. Thank you, Nelson CARES!”

Tickets are only $10 each and are available on the website at www.nelsoncares.ca or in-person at Hall Street Place 205 Hall Street and at the Kootenay Seniors new admin office at 805 Nelson Ave. during office hours.

With a maximum of 1300 tickets sold the chances of riding away in style are pretty high.

The Pedego Avenue E- Bike has a 48 Volt battery. An 7-speed drivetrain provides smooth shifting and easy pedalling with 5 levels of pedal assist. Those pesky Nelson hills will bother you no more.

The draw will take place at the Kootenay Seniors offices and live on their Facebook page on Sept 22nd. The winner will be contacted by phone and/or email.

Nelson CARES and Kootenay Seniors would like to thank everyone who purchases a ticket and especially Mike Clyde for his support of this raffle.
