Time to salute the Graduation Class of 2024

After experiencing more than a decade in the school system, the  L.V. Rogers Class of 2024 will take the next step in their journey following Graduation Ceremonies this weekend, beginning Friday with the Cap & Gown Ceremony in the Nelson and District Community  Complex.

The Cap & Gown Ceremony begins at 7 p.m. with grads being saluted and awards presented.

Saturday the always entertaining salute to the Grads Cavalcade begins at Tenth Street Campus of Selkirk College at 3 p.m. before winding through the streets of Nelson.

The Cavalcade travels along Douglas Road and into the downtown core, finishing along Baker and Victoria Streets in Nelson.

The Cavalcade walking route follows from the Civic Theatre as Grads will walk up Hendryx Street to Baker, and through the downtown core to Stanley Street before returning to the start.

The LVR Parent Grad Committee welcomes the public to participate by lining the Cavalcade route to salute the Grads of 2024.

“Congratulations 2024 graduates,” said SD8 staff and the Board of Education at Kootenay Lake School District.

” Be sure to take a moment to reflect on what you have achieved. We are so proud of you and know you are ready to thrive in your next adventure.”

Kootenay Lake School District Graduation Schedule:

  • Salmo Secondary — Friday, June 14, Salmo Secondary
  • Kootenay River Secondary — Friday, June 14 at 7 p.m., Creston & District Community Complex
  • Mount Sentinel Secondary — Friday, June 21 – Commencement (Cap and Gown Ceremony) at Mt. Sentinel School & Saturday, June 22 – Grand March at Mt. Sentinel School, Grad Banquet and Safe Grad/Prom
  • J.V. Humphries Secondary — Saturday, June 22,  beginning at 4:30 p.m. at JV Humphries

The LVR 2023 Cavalcade begins at Selkirk College Tenth Street Campus at 3 p.m. Saturday.

The Grand March route takes the Grads on a walk through downtown Nelson.
