Nelson Pride volunteer board prepares for upcoming festivities

The volunteer board of Nelson Pride has started work on this year’s events that will be taking place starting August 26th and culminating with the Pride Parade on Sunday, September 4th.
This has been the first full year of incorporation for the Nelson Pride board and they feel encouraged by the feedback they have received.

Nelson Pride is excited to be organizing a Monthly Queer Games Night, in collaboration with local 2SLGBTQ ally, the Nelson United Church.
Everyone age 14 and older is welcome to come join us to play games and meet new friends on the first Friday of every month from 6 to 9 p.m.
They plan to have both video games and regular tabletop games available, but attendees are welcome to bring their own easy-to-learn tabletop favourites to share.
Board member Michael Wicks feels hopeful about the enthusiasm and engagement he is seeing around the 2SLGBTQ Archives housed at the Nelson Museum, Archives and Gallery.
He invites everyone to add their memories and ephemera to this project to ensure it truly represents the history and tells the complete story of the queer experience in this area.

The board is excited to share some great events for the upcoming Pride celebration with the community. We will be hosting events like Flag Raising, Drag Brunch, Welcome BBQ and more.
