Bombers rally to finish 11th overall at BC High School Girls Soccer Championships

The L.V. Rogers Bombers used penalty kicks to edge Duchess Park of Prince George in consolation round action at the BC High School AA Girl’s Soccer Championships Saturday in Burnaby.

LVR, edging Duchess Park 1-0 after the teams played the consolation round contest to a scoreless draw, finished 11th overall in the 16-team tournament.

Kootenay Rep LVR opened the tournament Thursday with consecutive setbacks against eventual champion Mark Isfeld of Courtney 3-0 and St. Thomas More of Burnaby 1-0.

Mark Isfeld edged Crofton House of Vancouver 3-1 in the tournament final.

The 1-2 record advanced the Bombers against Valleyview of Kamloops. The Spoolmak school scored  2-1 victory over LVR in consolation play.

Nina Usher of the Bombers won the Super 16 award for the Kootenay Reps.

York House defeated St. Michaels University 2-1 to claim the bronze medal.

LVR advanced to the BC Championships by stopping Fernie Falcons 4-0 in the Kootenay Final.

The Bombers blasted David Thompson Lakers of Invermere 7-0 in the semi finals.

The Bombers included, Emma Wouters, Fiona Rooney-Frederick, Claire Cristison, Freya Keyserlingk, Nina Usher, Lily Bennett, Brooke Chernenko, Franny Byers-Bohigian, Niyah Martineau, Paityn Lake, Taya Short, Ally Nicholson, Riley Clarke and Jacqueline Willard.

The team is coached by Morag Patterson, Sarah Kozlowski, Lila Carmichael, Cayenne Caney and Tad Lake.
