Lions Club hosts 'old school' park fun Saturday

May 25th, 2024

This Saturday, June 1st, from 10 a.m to 2 p.m., Nelson’s Lions Park will be alive with excitement.

The Nelson Lions Club cordially invites you to a day of “old school” park fun, right in the heart of Uphill.

This free event is perfect for kids and parents alike. Expect bouncy castles, sack races, games, face painting, and hot dogs (donations accepted). Don’t forget to bring your friends, family, and sunscreen for a day of pure enjoyment.

As you join in the festivities, please consider bringing a non-perishable food donation for our local Salvation Army food bank. Every little bit helps our community thrive.

Throughout the year, the Nelson Lions Club hosts various fundraisers, all aimed at supporting local causes. From the Canada Day Pancake Breakfast to the Fall Fire Wood Sale, every dollar raised stays right here in our community.

In fact, the club’s contributions are remarkable: $2000 in student scholarships, over $8000 in Community Grants, and more than $1000 in Health and Wellness initiatives such as hearing aid assistance and other local needs. Plus, they extend their reach to global projects such as Disaster Relief through Lions International.

This year alone, the Community Grants program made significant impacts on projects at the Nelson Library, Nelson After Stroke Recovery Program, Capitol Theatre, Nelson Tramway, Health Arts Society, Nelson Youth Centre, Kootenay Swim Club, and Nelson Tennis Club.

Anyone curious about becoming more involved in the community, should consider being a guest at one of the Club’s monthly evening meetings.

The meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month, starting anew in September.

For more information and contact details, visit the Club’s website at nelsonlions.ca.

See you this Saturday, June 1st at Lions Park.
