The Kootenay Lake Hospital Foundation is launching its Breath of Spring campaign to purchase an Infant Radiant Warmer for the maternity ward at the Nelson-based location.

The KLHF said the Infant Radiant Warmer uses gentle radiant heat to maintain the body temperature of newborns who require assistance after their birth and is quipped with an overhead lamp to pre-warm the mattress and is especially helpful in providing soothing warmth for premature babies.

“The Infant Radiant Warmer has integrated controls, such as oxygen and suction, for clinicians to use when resuscitating babies,” the KLHF spokesperson said.

“It also comes with a scale for the baby’s first weigh in.”

The KLHF is governed by a group of dedicated volunteers whose purpose is to raise funds for the priority medical equipment needs of our community hospital.

The Foundation Board is a working Board elected by its members. Directors and members serve on various committees such as the Events Committee, Community Relations Committee, Governance Committee, or the Finance Committee.

All directors and members contribute their time and effort without any payment or benefit other than the satisfaction of contributing to the community.

Visit www.klhf.org to learn more about this state of the art equipment and to make your secure donation online.

The KLHF wants to thank the community in advance for keeping its youngest patients warm and safe.
