Local award-winning performer Shayna Jones has been hard at work creating a national tour of her new show ‘Black & Rural.’

The show is a nationally funded artistic inquiry into the inner worlds of Black folks living in Canada’s countryside. Through this ongoing project, Shayna seeks out, honours and showcases the reflections of rurally based Black people like herself.

“The Black & Rural production piece reveals a soul-searching journey. It is steeped in social, political events, and yet the heart of it, has everything to do with the inner questioning that I myself have experienced,” says Jones.

Later this month at the Capitol, another Afrocentric performer hits the stage with ‘Emurgency! Revisited’ by Amai Kuda et Les Bois. This musical show is genre-defying and blends spiritual connection into a wide variety of musical genres.
