Bombers claim Joe Kolar Classic Consolation Title

Levi Konkin scored 12 points to lead the L.V. Rogers Bombers to a convincing 71-52 victory over Mount Boucherie Juniors in the consolation round of the Joe Kolar High School Boy’s Basketball Classic in West Kelowna.

The Mount Boucherie squad filled in for a late cancellation at the eight-team tournament.

Carter Janssen and Isaiah Shortall-Demelt each added eight points for the Bombers.

LVR opened the tournament with a hard-fought 74-68 win over Fraser Academy of Vancouver.

Albie Drysdale scored 25 points to lead the Bombers while Konkin added 15.

The win advanced the Bombers against the home squad where LVR dropped a 78-46 decision.

Leif Beneteau-Kreutz paced the Bombers with 11 Points while Reality Pastori added seven.

“Game 2 was one of their best of the season competing in a packed house gym against the host school,” said LVR head coach Ryan McKinnon.

The Bomber return to action Wednesday when the team travels to Castlegar to face Stanley Humphries.

Junior Bombers finish undefeated in East Kootenay

The LVR Junior Bombers kept up its drive to the provincials by winning all three games during a three-game swing though the East Kootenay over the weekend.

LVR opened with a 59-45 win over Jaffray.

The Bombers then dumped Mount Baker Wild 57-38 before blasting Laurie of Cranbrook 60-32.

The Junior Bombers face Stanley Humphries Wednesday in Castlegar before travelling to Kelowna this weekend to compete in the Sweet 16 Junior Boys Basketball tournament.
